The former Gramin Dak Sevak and the assistant branch postmaster, who were assigned to District Hamirpur and Bilaspur of Himachal Pradesh, respectively, were the subjects of two cases that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed on Friday in relation to the state’s postal recruitment scam. On the grounds that they submitted forged educational credentials in order to obtain employment, the central agency has also opened cases against unidentified individuals. The two individuals who have been identified as accused are Deepak, who was also an ABPM at the time, and Monu, who was the then-ABPM at Kaphara. Hemachal Pradesh is home to both of them.
“These cases were in furtherance to two cases registered by CBI earlier in the matter of postal recruitment scam involving allegations of securing these jobs by submitting forged and fraudulent educational documents and certificates, etc,” the agency said on Friday.
It is alleged that said accused, in a conspiracy, had forged/got forged educational qualification documents and also used the same for selection as GraminDakSevaks/Assistant Branch Post Masters in the Postal Department in Himachal Pradesh.
“They allegedly, thus, drew salaries wrongfully and caused loss to the Postal Department,” it said.
A few incriminating documents were found during searches that were done at the locations of the two accused in the districts of Bhiwani and Hisar (Haryana). In this case, further investigation is in progress.
