Harrison Ford’s original ‘Star Wars’ script, left in a London apartment, fetched $13,600 at a UK auction. Ford, who portrayed ‘Han Solo’, inadvertently left the script along with other items at his rented flat in London.
The landlords, who discovered the items, held onto them for decades. The script, dating back to March 15, 1976, was used during the filming of the first installment of the saga at Elstree Studios in London. It was sold to an Austrian collector at Excalibur Auctions in Hertfordshire.
In addition to the script, shooting schedules and a letter from an agent or friend were also found and sold. The incomplete script contains revisions and introduces the character Han Solo on page 56.
The 1977 film propelled Ford to global stardom, and he reprised his role in subsequent sequels and later in ‘The Force Awakens’ in 2015.
Jonathan Torode, the auctioneer at Excalibur Auctions, noted that the sale set a new record for a ‘Star Wars’ script, highlighting the strong connection fans have with such personal items.
