A bus collided with a tractor-trolley in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district, resulting in injuries to at least 16 people, as per police reports.
The incident occurred near the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (ABV-IIITM) in the Hazira area late Wednesday night.
All injured individuals are currently receiving treatment and are reported to be out of danger, stated Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shiyaz K M. The police promptly responded to the scene upon receiving the information.
“The accident involving a bus and a tractor-trolley near ABV-IIITM in Hazira area of the district occurred late Wednesday night, injuring 16 people. Presently, all injured individuals are in stable condition,” mentioned the ASP.
Among the 16 injured, 12 are from the tractor-trolley, the ASP mentioned, noting that a case has been filed against the bus driver for reckless driving. Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the driver.
Following a complaint from passengers in the tractor-trolley, the bus driver has been charged under IPC sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), informed the ASP.
A police team has been deployed to apprehend the accused driver, with further investigations underway, he added.
Earlier, Gwalior city SDM Atul Singh stated, “Around 15-16 people sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. An investigation into the incident will be conducted.”
