‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 4: Eva Longoria Joins Cast

SAG Award winner Eva Longoria has joined the upcoming season of ‘Only Murders in the Building’. She will appear as a recurring character, portraying a significant role in the season’s investigation.

The actress and director Molly Shannon who recently made her feature directorial debut with Flamin’ Hot is introduced as the second new character for the 4th installment of the comedy series. Molly will portray a formidable Los Angeles entrepreneur drawn into the murder investigation involving Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch).

Shannon and Longoria mark the first significant casting reveals for the much-awaited season 4, which faces high expectations following the star-studded lineup of guest appearances in season 3, featuring not only Streep but also Jesse Williams, Paul Rudd, Ashley Park, and Linda Emond.

This drama filled crime comedy series stars Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short in lead roles. The show revolves around Charles Haden-Savage (Martin), Oliver Putnam (Short), and Mabel Mora (Gomez), three neighbors residing in a New York City apartment complex known as the Arconia. They unite to produce a true crime podcast investigating the murder of another resident.

Meryl Streep, who debuted in Only Murders in the Building during season three, is also set to reprise her role as Loretta Durkin for the fourth season.

The upcoming season four of the popular comedy series will resume from the conclusion of the previous installment, which concluded with the murder of Charles’ (Martin) doppelgänger, Sazz, who was shot in the final moments of the season three finale. In addition, there was an intriguing proposal from Williams’ character, Tobert, who invited Mabel Mora (Gomez) to accompany him from the Big Apple to The City of Angels. Although Mabel declined the offer, it seems that her decision may not be final, according to Erwich’s information.

As the screen faded to black, Sazz was observed writing something on Charles’ kitchen floor using her own blood. The motive behind her murder remains unclear, as does whether Charles was the intended target. However, the demise of a beloved character does not necessarily indicate a reduced presence. In fact, quite the opposite may be true.

“We’ve loved writing Sazz so much, and that’s the beauty of the show is, you get a lot more time with the victims,” co-showrunner John Hoffman told The Hollywood Reporter in a season three postmortem. “They’re not gone when some ill fate happens to them. And that’s, I think, also why Jane said she was excited because it’s a good opportunity to go deeper with Sazz and find out what the whole big life and everything else was with her and the world of stunt doubling, ” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Earlier this month, Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich affirmed that following three seasons situated at the fictional Arconia building in New York City, the comedy led by Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez will shift to the West Coast for a new setting.
“Well, I’m very excited to see Steve, Martin and Selena take a little break from the apartment building and come to Los Angeles,” Erwich said. “So in the same way that John Hoffman used the canvas of Broadway to tell what I think was one of the most unique seasons you’ve ever seen, the same unique Only Murders take will be applied to Los Angeles, which I’m really excited about.”
