Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi Unite for Nyay Yatra in Agra Following Seat-sharing Agreement

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav participated in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, following the recent seat-sharing agreement between the two parties within the INDIA bloc for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra greeted the former chief minister as he joined the yatra. Initially, Yadav had expressed his intention to refrain from joining until a mutual understanding on seat allocation was achieved.

Under the agreement, Congress is slated to contest 17 out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, which holds the highest number of parliamentary representatives from any state.

During his address amidst the yatra, the SP chief echoed the slogan, “BJP hatao, desh bachao (Remove BJP, save the country),” emphasizing the urgency of safeguarding democracy and the Constitution from what he perceives as BJP’s detrimental influence.

He expressed gratitude towards the public and highlighted the significance of preserving democracy and the Constitution, particularly amidst the prevalent challenges. He underscored the importance of the ongoing struggle between the INDIA alliance and PDA in countering the NDA.

Rahul Gandhi, addressing the gathering in Agra during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, emphasized the perpetual injustice faced by the impoverished in the country. He stressed that the root cause of animosity lies in injustice and emphasized the need to integrate justice into their mission.

Reflecting on the alliance’s vision for the nation, Gandhi recalled the Bharat Jodo Yatra undertaken a year ago, spanning 4,000 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. He reiterated the objective of fostering love amidst an atmosphere of hatred, drawing parallels with their current efforts alongside Akhilesh Yadav and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
