S.Coups, a member of the popular K-pop group SEVENTEEN, has been officially exempted from mandatory military service in South Korea due to a knee injury sustained last year. PLEDIS Entertainment, the agency representing SEVENTEEN, confirmed the news on Friday, March 1, stating that S.Coups has been classified as Grade 5 under South Korea’s conscription system.
The agency explained that S.Coups underwent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery and anterolateral ligament reconstruction surgery on his left knee joint following a rupture. Since then, he has been diligently undergoing extensive physical rehabilitation. In South Korea, Grade 5 individuals are exempt from compulsory military service.
Additionally, fellow SEVENTEEN member Jeonghan, who suffered a left ankle injury, has also been undergoing medical treatment. Despite efforts to manage his condition conservatively, Jeonghan’s ankle worsened during a recent tour, leading to surgery. Both S.Coups and Jeonghan have received clearance from medical professionals to cautiously resume their activities, including SEVENTEEN’s upcoming events.
However, adjustments will be made to accommodate their injuries and prevent further strain. PLEDIS Entertainment expressed gratitude to fans for their support during this period. The agency assured fans that S.Coups and Jeonghan would participate in SEVENTEEN’s activities, such as the FOLLOW AGAIN TO INCHEON tour, with careful consideration for their health.
