Indian Navy Sailor Reported MISSING, Family Demands Justice

A member of the Indian Navy, identified as Sahil Verma, Seaman II, has been reported missing from a naval vessel since February 27. The Western Naval Command, headquartered in Mumbai, has initiated a large-scale search operation to locate him. Additionally, a high-level board of inquiry has been launched to investigate this incident.

“The Navy immediately launched a massive search operation with ships and aircraft, which is still continuing,” it posted on X. “Naval Board of Inquiry has been ordered for detailed investigations,” it added.

Having joined the Indian Navy in 2022, Sahil’s sudden disappearance has left his family and Navy officials perplexed, with uncertainties surrounding the circumstances. In response, the Indian Navy has initiated a comprehensive Naval Board of Inquiry to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Sahil’s father, Subash Chander, recounted receiving a distressing call from the Ship Captain on February 29th, informing them about their son’s disappearance. “They informed me that a search operation is underway as he hasn’t been captured on any of the ship’s cameras, jumping out,” he added.

His mother, Rama Kumari, affectionately referring to him as ‘Shalu’, pleaded for his safe return. “We have no idea what happened to him. They must find out where he went,” she urged. Meanwhile, Sahil’s brother Shivam has been actively cooperating with Indian Navy authorities since Sahil went missing on the 27th, just two days after the ship’s departure.

The Indian Navy issued a statement acknowledging the unfortunate incident and reaffirming their commitment to an extensive search operation. “A Naval Board of Inquiry has been ordered for thorough investigations,” the statement concluded, as the search for Sahil Verma continues, both at sea and in the hearts of his distraught family.
