What happened?
Several days ago, a BJP fact-finding delegation, comprising Union Minister Annapurna Devi, Pratima Bhowmik, MP Sunita Duggal, Kavita Patidar, Sangeeta Yadav, and Rajya Sabha member and former Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh Brij Lal, encountered interference from the police when attempting to enter Sandeshkhali.
In Sandeshkhali, numerous women have accused local Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his associates of sexual assault. Village residents have organized protests, criticizing the lack of action by police authorities against the accused individuals. In response, the West Bengal police detained Uttam Sardar and Shibaprasad Hazra, close associates of Shahjahan.
