Mangaluru: Three Students Face Severe Burns in Acid Assault

Three female students faced a harrowing experience as they sustained severe third-degree burns on their faces following an acid attack near a government pre-university college in Kadaba, Dakshina Kannada district.

The incident occurred while the students were engaged in exam preparation within the college corridors, casting a shadow of fear and shock over the educational institution. According to authorities, the assailant, disguised with a mask and cap, targeted the students by hurling acid at their faces from a concealed bottle. The perpetrator, identified as Abin from Kasaragod district in Kerala, attempted to flee the scene post-attack.

However, alert witnesses intervened, leading to his apprehension and subsequent handover to law enforcement. The victims were swiftly transported to a nearby government hospital in Kadaba for initial treatment. However, due to the severity of their injuries, medical professionals recommended their transfer to a private hospital in Mangaluru for specialized care. The heinous nature of the attack has prompted widespread condemnation and calls for justice for the traumatized students.

Kadaba police are investigating.
