Star Indian batsman Shubman Gill reached the milestone of 4000 international runs during his impressive innings of 110 runs against England in the fifth Test at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on Friday.

Gill marked his debut in the ODI format against New Zealand in 2019 and has since participated in 44 50-over matches, accumulating 2271 runs with a strike rate of 103.46. The 24-year-old, who received his maiden Test cap against Australia in 2020, has played 25 Test matches and 46 innings, amassing 1492 runs.

Additionally, he made his T20I debut in 2023 against Sri Lanka and has featured in 14 T20 matches, scoring 335 runs with a strike rate of 147.58. As of now, Gill’s international runs tally stands at 4098. In the ongoing fifth Test against England in Dharamshala, he showcased his prowess with a remarkable innings of 110 runs at a strike rate of 73.33.

His innings included 12 fours and 5 sixes, facing 150 deliveries before being dismissed by James Anderson in the 63rd over of the second session. Reflecting on day two of the fifth Test, a formidable partnership of 160 runs between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided India with an advantageous position in the first session.

At the Lunch break on Day 2, India reached 264/1, with Rohit (102) and Gill (101) remaining unbeaten. The duo added 129 runs in the session without losing any wickets. Starting the day at 135/1, both batsmen achieved a 50-run partnership in the 34th over, with Gill hitting a boundary against James Anderson. The 150-run partnership was completed in the 57th over, with Rohit scoring a boundary off spinner Tom Hartley. In the same over, Rohit reached his century with 13 fours and three sixes in his innings.
