BIG BREAKING: Modi Govt Implements CAA Ahead Lok Sabha Elections

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced today (on March 11th) the issuance of the rules for the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), setting the stage for its nationwide enforcement. This law facilitates the process for Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Christian, and Parsi refugees from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan to obtain Indian citizenship.

According to a statement posted on X by the ministry’s spokesperson, applications for citizenship will now be accepted exclusively through online channels.

It is noteworthy that the CAA formed a crucial component of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s agenda during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and was enacted by Parliament on December 11, 2019, following the commencement of Modi government 2.0.
