Ramdev Baba-Yog Guru Summoned By Supreme Court

The Supreme Court summoned Acharya Balkrishna, Managing Director of Ayurvedic company Patanjali Ayurved, and Yoga Guru Ramdev to appear in court during the next hearing. This was in response to their failure to address the contempt notice regarding the company’s misleading advertisement case.

Supreme Court asks Ayurvedic company Patanjali Ayurved Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna and Yog Guru Ramdev to appear before it on the next date of hearing for not responding to the contempt notice.

On February 27, the Supreme Court rebuked Patanjali Ayurved for its deceptive advertisements and imposed restrictions on the company from promoting products as treatments for diseases. The Court sent notices to Patanjali Ayurved and its managing director, Acharya Balkrishna, questioning their disregard for court directives and cautioned about potential contempt proceedings.

A bench consisting of justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah also cautioned Patanjali Ayurved and its executives against issuing any media statements, whether in print or electronic media, that criticize any medical system, as per their commitment made on November 21 of the previous year.

The bench expressed concern that the public had been misled, prompting inquiries about the government’s actions regarding Patanjali Ayurved’s alleged false claims and misrepresentation in advertisements regarding the efficacy of its medicines in treating various illnesses.
