CM Kejriwal Moves Delhi High Court Over His Arrest By ED

Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging both his arrest and the remand order issued by the trial court on March 22. This action follows his placement in ED custody until March 28 by the Rouse Avenue Court a day prior.

Kejriwal’s legal team argues that his arrest and the subsequent remand are unlawful, asserting his right to immediate release from custody. They have requested an expedited hearing from the Acting Chief Justice, ideally by Sunday, March 24.

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) detained Kejriwal on Thursday concerning the alleged Delhi excise policy case. He remains in ED custody until March 28, following his arrest on March 21 related to the now-defunct Delhi excise policy case. Kejriwal was presented before the Rouse Avenue Court under stringent security measures on Friday.

While entering the court complex, Kejriwal told reporters, “My life is dedicated to the country, whether I am inside or outside the prison.”
