Dhruv Agarwala, the CEO of Housing.com, has disclosed his extraordinary weight loss journey, shedding a staggering 71 kilograms over two years. In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Agarwala revealed the pivotal moment that kickstarted his transformation—a health scare during a trip to India in 2021, where he mistook heartburn for a heart attack.
Weighing nearly 152 kilograms at the time, Agarwala was pre-diabetic, relied on medications for high cholesterol and blood pressure, and suffered from sleep apnea. This wake-up call propelled him to take charge of his health and embark on a comprehensive lifestyle overhaul.
Agarwala adopted a disciplined fitness regimen, engaging in strength-training sessions three times a week with a personal trainer in Singapore. He also boosted his daily step count from 10,000 to 12,000, incorporating extensive walking into his routine.
Inspired by tennis icon Roger Federer, Agarwala aimed to achieve a physique akin to the sports legend’s weight of 80 kilograms. Implementing portion control and cutting out alcohol, processed, and fried foods, he reduced his daily calorie intake to 1,700 calories. Protein-rich meals became a staple, with a focus on whole foods and healthy snacks like nuts, carrots, cucumbers, and yogurt.
His dedication yielded significant results, with Agarwala losing 20 kilograms within four months of commencing his fitness journey. To further enhance his progress, he introduced running and swimming into his routine in 2023.
Reflecting on his achievement, Agarwala emphasized the satisfaction of revamping his wardrobe and the newfound confidence stemming from his transformation. He attributed his sustained success to continuously raising the bar on his fitness goals, refusing to settle despite reaching significant milestones.
Having grown up in Kolkata, where he actively participated in various sports, Agarwala acknowledged his weight gain as a consequence of unhealthy eating habits and a lack of regular exercise. His journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of dedication, discipline, and a commitment to prioritizing personal health and well-being.
