Security forces successfully neutralized two naxals, each carrying a reward of Rs 42 lakh, during an encounter in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district, announced Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday.
Praising the valor of the security personnel, Chief Minister Yadav commended their bravery in eliminating the two naxal operatives. “Our brave soldiers engaged in an encounter with naxals and managed to eliminate two of them, each with a bounty of Rs 42 lakh. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our jawans and the people of the state,” Yadav conveyed to ANI.
IG Intelligence and Anti-Naxal Dr. Ashish emphasized that the Chief Minister had provided strict directives to take decisive action against the menace of terrorism. “This accomplishment signifies a challenge met and success achieved. The Chief Minister has provided strict directives to take exemplary action against terrorist elements,” Dr. Ashish remarked.
In a related development, police officials in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur confirmed that the tally of Naxalites killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites has risen to 10.
“Current update indicates 10 naxal bodies (09 male and one female). Weapons recovered include one LMG, one .303 rifle, one 12 bore, a significant number of BGL launchers and BGL shells, along with other arms and ammunition,” stated Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, P Sundarraj.
Identifying the deceased is underway, with indications suggesting they are likely members of PLGA Coy No 02, added Bastar IG.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma highlighted that the encounter followed the tragic killing of three villagers by Naxalites. “The bodies of the Naxals were recovered following a security force operation in response to the murder of three villagers by Naxalites,” Sharma informed ANI.
The encounter unfolded at Lendra village in Bijapur around 6 am on Tuesday, following a joint search operation initiated by the District Reserve Group (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), CoBRA, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), starting from Monday night in the Gangalur police station area, according to police sources.
