Franco-Swiss Airport Evacuated Hours After Attacks On The French Rail Network

A Franco-Swiss airport was evacuated for safety reasons on Friday, just hours after arson attacks disrupted the French rail network ahead of the Olympics opening ceremony.

The Mulhouse EuroAirport’s website stated that the terminal had to be evacuated and is currently closed, with more information to be provided later.

Late last year, several French airports, including EuroAirport, were evacuated because of fake bomb threats. EuroAirport, located on the French side of the border near Mulhouse, saw eight million passengers in 2023.

The evacuation happened as French authorities were searching for those responsible for arson attacks on the high-speed train network, which caused major travel disruptions for hundreds of thousands of people. The Paris Olympics opening ceremony is set to start on Friday evening.
