Indian duo Rohan Bopanna and N Sriram Balaji were defeated in straight sets by the French pair Gael Monfils and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the men’s doubles first round at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Court 14 of Roland-Garros on Sunday.

Monfils and Roger-Vasselin triumphed over Balaji and Bopanna with scores of 7-5, 6-2 in just 76 minutes. They will move on to the second round, where they will face the second-seeded German team of Tim Puetz and Kevin Krawietz.

Earlier, India’s sole representative in the men’s singles, Sumit Nagal, was knocked out in the first round after a three-set defeat to French player Corentin Moutet.
