Topic: Decisive Battle Against Corruption
Dr. Udit Raj, a politician from the Indian National Congress and former Member of Parliament, served from 2014 to 2019, representing North West Delhi. He was previously with the Bharatiya Janata Party but left after one term.
When asked about his take on corruption when it comes to the current government, allegations are always made, but let’s here from India News Manch Stage.
Udit Raj argued that no parliament had ever created laws like the electoral bond law, which he claimed essentially legalized theft. He pointed out that the names of those buying these bonds were kept secret. According to him, the BJP had misused their majority by revealing the names of small vendors while hiding the identities of the big donors who contributed 100-900 crore rupees through these bonds. He stated that this was a unique example demonstrating the extent of the BJP’s corruption.

He says, “BJP’s old tactics make it seem like they handle everything effortlessly. The real issue is that BJP has no answers. Ask them about any issue, and they deflect to the 1950s or 1960s, forgetting their 2014 promises to farmers and women. For instance, when PM Modi recently spoke with Manu Bhaker, it was well-received, but where was his voice when our country’s daughters were being mistreated? BJP leaders stand with you when it’s convenient, but abandon you in tough times. This is evident in their handling of student issues like the NEET paper leak.”

The third panellist, National Spokesperson for BJP Ajay Alok, stated that he was astonished that he was chosen for the session of Corruption. He said, “I find it surprising to discuss corruption with someone like “Totichor” and others associated with various scams. I ask the public, would you respect someone convicted of corruption? Lalu Yadav, for instance, has been convicted by the courts. In the 2024 elections, we addressed all issues, and the public responded. Despite some narratives created by the media, let me clarify that BJP hasn’t lost elections.”
Replying to this Manu cross-questioned Alok, “Are you suggesting that if a corrupt person wins an election, their corruption is erased?”
“No, that’s not what I mean. The judiciary is working on these cases. Tell me, who is currently on bail?
Alok stated the fact that ED and CBI seized 1.84 lakh crore rupees from corrupt individuals in the past seven years. And here comes a counter from Anurag, “Why doesn’t CBI or ED visit BJP leaders’ homes? Do they forget the route? They seem to only target opposition leaders.”
The host handling the chaos, questioned Alok, “you were previously with Janata Dal (U). Now, in BJP, Bihar’s bridges are collapsing. Who is responsible?” To this Alok replied, “Sixteen contractors have been jailed. Big names will surface soon, and some will need to seek bail again. Why are you pushing me to reveal more?”
Well, in conclusion, it can only be said that in the debate that the session was ignited with is ongoing since a long time. Every political party claims the other is corrupt while denying any wrongdoing on their part. However, the people of this country are now aware. No political party has drawn a clear and honest line against corruption.
The question remains, why is your corruption considered less severe than mine?
