Tragic Fire in Noida Slum Claims Lives of Three Young Girls; Parents Injured

Three minor girls died from severe burn injuries in a fire that broke out at a slum in Sector 8 of Uttar Pradesh’s Noida early Wednesday morning, police said. Their father and mother also suffered burn injuries in the incident, which occurred around 3:00 am. Upon receiving the information, a team from the fire services department rushed to the scene and started operations. Officials have identified an electrical short-circuit as the cause of the fire.

District Magistrate Manish Verma confirmed that the fire broke out between 3:00 and 4:00 am. “We were promptly informed, and both the police and fire brigade responded. The forensic team is at the site conducting an investigation,” he said. DM Verma said that five people, including the three girls, were inside a shanty when the fire started. The girls succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

“The three girls who were sleeping on the bed suffered fatal burn injuries and died at the hospital. Their father, who sustained 60 to 70 percent burns, has been referred to Safdarjung Hospital. Their mother also suffered injuries but is reported to be out of danger,” he added. DM Verma noted that the victims were from Mainpuri and that the father worked as an e-rickshaw driver.

“We are investigating the incident further, and the government will provide compensation and support to the family,” he added. More details are awaited.
