A cloudburst in Ghansali, Uttarakhand’s Tehri district, caused heavy rains and resulted in two deaths on Wednesday. The victims were identified as Bhanu Prasad, 50, and his wife Neelam Devi, 45. Their 28-year-old son, Vipin, was injured when a nearby eatery and culvert were washed away by the cloudburst near the Nautar stream in Jakhanyali.

Another cloudburst occurred near the Bhim Bali stream along the Kedarnath walking path, triggering a landslide that damaged about 25 meters of the path. This led to the temporary closure of the path, leaving nearly 200 pilgrims stranded in Bhim Bali.
Emergency services, including the SDRF, district police, and local officials, quickly responded to the scene and relocated the stranded pilgrims to a safer area. No casualties have been reported in the Bhim Bali incident.
The continuous heavy rainfall caused a sudden rise in the Mandakini River’s water level, prompting authorities to evacuate the Gaurikund temple and move people to a safer location.
All emergency services, including the NDRF, SDRF, police, and hospitals, are on high alert. Rudraprayag District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar confirmed the cloudburst at Bhim Bali on the Kedarnath walking path, which caused a landslide and damaged about 20-25 meters of the path. He assured that the 200 stranded pilgrims at Bhimbali GMVN are safe and no lives were lost.
Due to the rising water level of the Mandakini River, the Gauri Mata temple in Gaurikund was evacuated, and devotees were moved to a safer place.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has discussed the situation with the Disaster Management Secretary, reviewing the ongoing relief and rescue operations in response to the heavy rains across the state.
