Rahul Gandhi Claims Upcoming ED Raid Following ‘Chakravyuh’ Speech, Awaits With “Open Arms”

Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Friday asserted that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is planning to raid him following his recent ‘Chakravyuh’ speech during the discussion on the Union budget. Gandhi stated that ED “insiders” had informed him of the impending raid and that he would be waiting for the central probe agency with “open arms.”

“Apparently, 2 in 1 didn’t like my Chakravyuh speech. ED ‘insiders’ tell me a raid is being planned,” Gandhi posted on social media platform X. “Waiting with open arms @dir_ed…..Chai and biscuits on me.”

Gandhi’s ‘Chakravyuh’ Speech and Its Impact

Participating in the discussion on the Union budget for 2024-25, Rahul Gandhi invoked the concept of ‘Chakravyuh’ from the Mahabharata, using it as a metaphor to criticize the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He likened the BJP’s tactics to the entrapment strategy used in the ancient Indian epic.

“In the 21st century, another ‘chakravyuh’ has been prepared. It is in the form of lotus and the prime minister wears the symbol on his chest. What was done with Abhinmanyu is being done with India, with its youth, women, farmers, and small and medium businesses,” Gandhi said during his speech.

Allegations of Central Control and Monopoly Capital

Gandhi claimed that six individuals, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are at the center of this ‘Chakravyuh.’ While he named Modi and Shah, the Speaker of the House, Om Birla, disallowed the mention of the other four individuals, citing that they were not members of the House.

Gandhi accused the political executive and central agencies of creating an environment where monopoly capital allows a few to control the country’s wealth. “You created a ‘chakravyuh’ of unemployment and paper leak… You call yourself nationalists but when you have to help jawans, you do not give money for pensions. You trapped the youth in the ‘chakravyuh’ of Agniveer,” he stated.

Follow-Up on Social Media

Following his speech, Gandhi reiterated his points on X, saying, “Today a 21st century lotus-shaped Chakravyuh is trapping India and is controlled by six figures: Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Adani, Ambani, Ajit Doval, and Mohan Bhagwat.”
