Paris Olympics 2024: Belgium’s Triathlete Blasts Officials After She Swam On Dirty Seine River

Landing in another controversy, Belgium’s triathlete Jolien Vermeylen has recently slammed officials of the Paris Olympics 2024, after she swam in the ‘dirty’ Seine river.

This 30th-year-old woman while remembering her experience revealed that when she was swimming, she felt there was debris below the water.

Talking to Belgium TV channel VTM, she said ‘While swimming under the bridge, I felt and saw things that we shouldn’t think about too much.’

Later, the officials expressed concerns regarding her safety as she had swallowed a large quantity of contaminated water while swimming. Speaking about this incident, the Belgian player sarcastically said ‘We’ll know tomorrow if I’m sick or not.’

Talking about river seine’s taste she angrily said ‘It doesn’t taste like Coca-Cola or Sprite, of course.’

Meanwhile on June, tests came and it revealed that the level of E. coli bacteria was 10 times higher than the acceptable levels.

But despite these concerns regarding River seine, the officials still approved the event, asserting that the water is sufficiently safe enough for athletes to compete.

Meanwhile, Jolien Vermeylen, who came 24th, further slammed the officials and said ‘The Seine has been dirty for a hundred years, so they can’t say that the safety of the athletes is a priority. That’s bulls**t!.’

Later, she talked about how she safeguarded herself from the polluted river. Talking about precautions she said ‘I took pro-biotics, I drank my Yakult, I couldn’t do more. I had the idea of not drinking water, but yes, it failed.”
