A recent cloud burst in the Cherwan Kangan area of Ganderbal district has led to significant disruptions and damage across the region. The intense rainfall has caused extensive damage to paddy fields, with several vehicles getting trapped in the resulting debris. Additionally, water has surged into residential areas, exacerbating the situation for local residents.
The cloud burst has also impacted major transport routes, with SSG Road near Padawbal being blocked due to an overflow from a nearby canal. The overflow has led to a considerable accumulation of mud on the road, hindering movement.
Currently, no casualties have been reported from this incident. However, the situation remains critical as the Srinagar-Kargil road has also been blocked due to the cloud burst in the Kawcherwan Kangan area. Commuters are strongly advised to avoid traveling on the Srinagar-Kargil road until further notice and the road is cleared of debris.
Authorities are working diligently to address the situation, clear the blocked roads, and mitigate the impact on affected areas. Residents are urged to stay updated with local advisories and avoid unnecessary travel in the region until conditions improve.
