Manish Sisodia Granted Bail: Sisodia’s Lawyer Believe It Will Impact Arvind Kejriwal’s Case

Manish Sisodia, the AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, is expected to be released from jail either today or tomorrow following a recent Supreme Court bail order. His lawyer, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, shared his optimism about the broader implications of the court’s decision, stating that the bail order would “significantly benefit Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s case as well.”

Sisodia has been held at Tihar Jail for over 17 months in connection with the controversial Delhi liquor policy, which has led to allegations of corruption and money laundering. The Supreme Court’s ruling emphasized that Sisodia’s extended detention without a trial was a violation of his right to a speedy trial, with Justice BR Gavai highlighting, “In the matter of liberty, every day counts.”

Sources at Tihar Jail confirmed that Sisodia, currently housed in Jail Number 1, is expected to exit through Gate Number 3, though security concerns might prompt alternative arrangements. The exact timing of his release will depend on the completion of bail formalities.

Following the Supreme Court’s decision, the bail order will be processed through the Rouse Avenue Court, where necessary documents and bail bonds will be finalized before being forwarded to Tihar Jail for implementation.

Sisodia’s release is a significant development for the Aam Aadmi Party, which faces similar charges against its leader, Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal has been in custody on related charges since March, with only a brief respite during the Lok Sabha elections.

The anticipation of Sisodia’s release and the potential impact on Kejriwal’s case is a major focus for AAP supporters and observers alike.
