Heavy Rains Lash Ambala City: Traffic And Infrastructure Affected

Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Ambala city on Sunday, disrupting normal life and causing waterlogging throughout the city. Commuters were seen wading through waterlogged roads as the heavy rains hit various areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted thunderstorms and lightning with moderate rain over parts of Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, and Panchkula. “Thunderstorm/Lightning with moderate rain is very likely over parts of Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, and Panchkula,” IMD Chandigarh posted on X.

The IMD Regional Centre in New Delhi also predicted moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by moderate thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of Haryana. “Moderate to heavy rainfall, along with moderate thunderstorms and lightning, is very likely to occur in Rajaund, Assandh, Jind, Gohana, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar (Haryana), Kotputli, Alwar, and Viratnagar (Rajasthan),” the Regional Meteorological Centre in New Delhi posted on X.

According to the IMD, Haryana is expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall until August 14. “Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and East Uttar Pradesh from August 10 to 16; Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and West Uttar Pradesh on August 10, 11, and from August 14 to 16; Punjab on August 10 and 11; Haryana and Chandigarh on August 10, 11, and August 14,” IMD said in a press release.
