In a harrowing incident, wife of ex-MLA Yamthong Haokip’s wife Charubala Haokip lost her life, following a bomb blast at their residence in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Sunday.
As per a police official, this incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Saturday. But, it was only reported early on sunday morning. He noted that a locally made IED had been hidden among waste material at the house.

‘When the deceased burned the waste material, it exploded. Everybody else is okay. There are no other fatalities or injuries.’ said a police official.
Currently, no arrest has been initiated and as per police official, the attack is believed to be the result of a family disagreement. But the complaint was registered at Saikul police station.
