Independence Day 2024 Live: India celebrates Its 78th I-Day This year

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag and delivered his 11th consecutive Independence Day address from the Red Fort, marking India’s 78th Independence Day. The theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047,’ focuses on advancing the country towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The ceremony commenced with Prime Minister Modi being greeted by senior government and military officials. He then inspected the Guard of Honour, coordinated by the Indian Navy this year. A significant highlight was the hoisting of the national flag by the Prime Minister, accompanied by a 21-gun salute from the 1721 Field Battery, using indigenous 105mm Light Field Guns.

Approximately 6,000 special guests from various segments of Indian society, including youth, tribal communities, farmers, women, and beneficiaries of government schemes, were invited to attend the ceremony.
