In a follow-up to the merger, Airline of Tata Group Air India & Vistara have acquired DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) ‘s nod to streamline their aircraft line maintenance operations.

As per sources, this approval is a notable step toward operational synergy between the two carriers, which are on track to merge into a single airline.

According to the official, the integration of airline maintenance operations, it will assist the Air India-Vistara merger in improving operational efficiency, shortening aircraft turnaround times, and strengthening on-time performance.

Further, one official also added that due to integrated team and resources, Air India will be in better position to support a diverse fleet of both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft, thereby improving schedule consistency and operational reliability.

Meanwhile, Air India is looking to complete Vistara’s merger by end of the year. In addition to the Air India and Vistara merger, the group is also working on combining its budget airlines, Air India Express and AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India). Once both mergers are finalized, the Air India group will operate a full-service carrier, Air India, and a low-cost airline, Air India Express.
