IRCTC Collaborates with Swiggy to Introduce Food Delivery Service on Trains

In a significant move aimed at enhancing passenger experience, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has partnered with leading food delivery platform Swiggy to offer food delivery services on trains. This collaboration opens up the possibility for passengers to enjoy their favorite meals from a wide range of restaurants while traveling. The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchanged between Sanjay Kumar Jain, chairman and managing director of IRCTC, and Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.

Under the terms of the MoU, Swiggy will leverage its extensive restaurant network to deliver food to passengers on selected trains. Initially, the service is expected to be available at 63 stations across India, with an initial rollout planned for stations in Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada in the coming weeks.

Sanjay Kumar Jain, chairman and managing director of IRCTC, expressed the corporation’s commitment to enhancing the comfort and convenience of train journeys for passengers. He stated that the partnership with Swiggy would offer passengers more food options and greater convenience, thereby enriching their travel experiences.

Swiggy CEO Rohit Kapoor highlighted the potential of this collaboration to enhance the culinary experience of train travel. He emphasized the opportunity for passengers to explore the diverse culinary offerings of India during their rail journeys, enhancing their overall travel experience.

Passengers interested in availing pre-ordered food services via Swiggy can follow these simple steps:

  1. Input the PNR on the IRCTC app.
  2. Select the preferred station for food delivery.
  3. Browse through the extensive list of restaurants available on Swiggy.
  4. Choose a restaurant that offers delivery at the specified location and time.
  5. Swiggy’s delivery partner will arrive at the selected platform X minutes before delivery.
  6. The delivery partner will hand over the food, packaged in an insulated container, to the customer and mark the food as delivered.

This collaboration marks another step towards enhancing passenger satisfaction and convenience during train journeys, reflecting IRCTC and Swiggy’s commitment to innovation and customer service.
