The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has mandated the updating of KYC (Know Your Customer) details for FASTags due to reports of one FASTag being used with multiple vehicles. The deadline for updating FASTag KYC is tomorrow, February 29, after it was extended from January 31, 2024.
To enhance the efficiency of the Electronic Toll Collection system and discourage the use of single FASTag for multiple vehicles, NHAI has launched the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ initiative.
Consequences of Not Updating FASTag KYC: If the FASTag KYC is not updated, users risk having their previous tags deactivated or blacklisted, leading to inconvenience at toll plazas.
How to Update FASTag KYC: Follow these steps according to the Indian Highway Management Company (IHML) website:
- Visit https://fastag.ihmcl.com and enter your registered mobile number along with the OTP received.
- Navigate to the Dashboard Menu and select “My Profile.”
- Check the status of your KYC and review the profile details.
- Click on the ‘KYC’ section and proceed to the ‘Profile’ subsection.
- Select the “Customer Type” and fill out mandatory fields with required ID Proof, Address Proof documents, passport-size photo, and address details.
- Ensure to tick ‘Yes’ in the “Declaration” section.
- Once submitted, your KYC update request will be processed within a maximum of seven working days.
How to Identify Incomplete FASTag KYC: If your FASTag KYC is incomplete, you will receive notifications via email, SMS, or the application interface of the issuing bank. It’s recommended to regularly check for updates through SMS, email, and other communication channels.
Ensure a smooth experience at toll plazas by completing your FASTag KYC before the deadline.
