Tata Power Awards Contracts Worth Rs 11, 481 Crore To Local Contractors

Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms have awarded contracts amounting to Rs 11,481 crore to local contractors and suppliers, according to an official statement.

Since assuming responsibility for the state’s power distribution operations three years ago, the joint ventures between Tata Power and the Odisha government have issued orders worth Rs 8,690 crore to local MSMEs and Rs 2,791 crore to non-MSMEs. These contracts, involving both materials and services, have been allocated to local contractors and suppliers.

Odisha Discoms—TP Central, TP Southern, TP Northern, and TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited—have established agreements with 6,645 local vendors and suppliers. These collaborations are essential for daily operations and services, with an emphasis on employing local residents.

In the service sector, which includes tasks such as meter reading, billing, and network maintenance, the Discoms have awarded contracts to 4,347 vendors, totaling Rs 7,560 crore. In the materials supply sector, which covers items like distribution transformers, cables, and poles, the Discoms have issued 2,298 contracts worth Rs 3,921 crore.

The material contracts cover key components such as transformers, cables, poles, LT and HT hardware, laptops, and desktops. The service contracts span various functions, including meter installation, billing, collections, call center operations, meter reading, and administrative roles like housekeeping and catering.

“This initiative not only aligns with the Make in Odisha vision but also plays a key role in driving the state’s economic growth. It has transformed the local business landscape and significantly benefited communities,” the company added.
