The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to extend the registration window for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024 examination until March 16, offering aspiring medical students an additional opportunity to apply. The NEET UG 2024 exam is scheduled for May 5, 2024, from 2 pm to 5.20 pm, to be conducted in pen and paper (offline) mode across the country and in 14 cities outside India.

The registration process for the online application forms commenced on February 9, and the decision to extend the deadline follows representations from stakeholders advocating changes in NEET (UG) 2024. The official statement emphasized that this extension is a one-time opportunity, cautioning applicants to utilize it judiciously, as no further chances will be provided after the extended deadline.

Candidates encountering any difficulties in the application process are encouraged to contact 011-40759000 for assistance. Regularly checking the official website of the NTA, www.nta.ac.in, is advised for the latest updates.

In recent years, the NEET registration numbers have demonstrated an upward trend, with 1,872,339 students registering in 2022 and 2,087,462 in 2023. This surge in registrations signifies heightened competition among aspiring medical professionals.

In 2022, 993,069 candidates qualified for the NEET exam, boasting a qualifying rate of 56.21 percent. The following year, in 2023, 1,145,976 candidates qualified, maintaining a similar qualifying rate of 56.27 percent. Anticipating a continuation of this trend, NEET 2024 is expected to attract around 22 lakh applications this year. This extension provides aspirants with an opportunity to carefully complete their applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness before the revised deadline.

The NEET-UG examination is a crucial gateway for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate medical courses in India. This extension, granted by the NTA, aims to accommodate the concerns and needs of applicants, providing them with an equitable chance to participate in this significant examination that plays a pivotal role in shaping their academic and professional futures.
