The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the schedule for the Civil Services Mains and Forest Service Examination 2024. Candidates who passed the preliminary exam are eligible to participate in the mains exam. The schedule is available on the official UPSC website.

The preliminary exam took place on June 16, 2024, with results declared on July 1. The mains exam is set to occur from September 20 to 29, with sessions running from 9 AM to 12 noon.

The schedule:

September 20: Essay (Paper I) in the first session; no second session.
September 21: General Studies-I (Paper II) in the morning; General Studies-II (Paper III) in the afternoon.
September 22: General Studies-III (Paper IV) in the morning; General Studies-IV (Paper V) in the afternoon.
September 28: Indian Language paper in the morning; English (Paper B) in the afternoon.
September 29: Optional Subject-Paper 1 (Paper VI) in the morning; Optional Subject-Paper 2 (Paper VII) in the afternoon.

Eligibility: UPSC Mains

IAS Officer: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Zoology, Agriculture, or a related field.

Age Requirement: 21 to 32 years.

Total Vacancies:
Indian Administrative Service (IAS): 1,056 posts

Indian Forest Service (IFS): 150 posts
Total: 1,206 posts
