2024 MTV VMAs K-pop Nominees Roundup: BTS’ Jungkook and BLACKPINK’s Lisa Lead the Pack

The nominees for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) have been unveiled, highlighting the remarkable presence of K-pop artists in this year’s lineup. The event will be broadcast live on September 10 at 8 pm Eastern.

Jungkook and Lisa Garner Multiple Nominations

Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS, has earned two nominations for his solo debut song “Seven” featuring Latto. He is in the running for both the Best K-Pop and Best Collaboration categories. BLACKPINK’s Lisa has secured four nominations for her solo track “ROCKSTAR,” including Best Choreography, Best Editing, Best K-Pop, and Best Art Direction.

The Best K-Pop category features a competitive lineup:

  • Jungkook’s “Seven”
  • Lisa’s “ROCKSTAR”
  • TXT’s “Deja Vu”
  • NewJeans’ “Super Shy”
  • Stray Kids’ “LALALALA”
  • NCT DREAM’s “Smoothie”

Additionally, LE SSERAFIM has received their first-ever VMA nomination for Push Performance of the Year with their song “EASY.”

More MTV VMA Nominations

In the broader MTV VMA nominations, Taylor Swift leads with ten nods, including eight for her “Fortnight” music video and nominations in the Artist of the Year and Best Pop categories. Her collaborator, Post Malone, follows closely with nine nominations, including eight shared with Swift and one for his country hit “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen.

The Artist of the Year nominees include:

  • Ariana Grande
  • Bad Bunny
  • Eminem
  • Sabrina Carpenter
  • SZA

Ariana, Sabrina, and Eminem each received six nominations, while Megan Thee Stallion and SZA each garnered five. Following them with four nominations are Lisa from BLACKPINK, Olivia Rodrigo, and Teddy Swims.

Event Details

The 2024 MTV VMAs will take place at the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York. Fans can cast their votes online starting Tuesday across 15 gender-neutral categories until August 30. Voting for the Best New Artist category will remain open throughout the show.

This year’s nominations underscore the global influence of K-pop and highlight the diverse array of artists competing for top honors at the VMAs. Fans eagerly await the event to see which of their favorite artists will take home the coveted awards.
