Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Aadujeevitham’, which hit screens on March 28, is expected to end its extended first weekend on a terrific note. According to Ramesh Bala, a trade analyst, the film is likely to collect between Rs 65 crore and Rs 70 crore at the worldwide box office in the first four days.
“I feel the worldwide gross collection for the first four days will be in the range of Rs 65 crore and Rs 70 crore in the best case,” he told News X.
The film has collected around Rs 50 crore globally in the first three days. Going by Ramesh Bala’s prediction, ‘Aadujeevitham’ is expected to collect around Rs 20 crore on its first Sunday. The final figure, however, will depend on the occupancy during the evening shows.
The bulk of this comes from Kerala, which isn’t surprising given the fact that ‘Aadujeevitham’ is a Malayalam movie. The flick has also found good patronage in the UAE market.
“The lion’s share comes from Kerala and then from overseas markets such as the UAE,” said Ramesh Bala.
‘Aadujeevitham’, however, hasn’t done as well as expected in Tamil Nadu despite Prithvi’s popularity in the market.
“The business is decent for a Malayalam film with a Tamil-dubbed version. However, the buzz and business aren’t like what we saw for Manjummel Boys,” added Ramesh Bala.
In case you didn’t know, ‘Manjummel Boys’ is one of the biggest hits of the year. The survival drama grossed Rs 50 crores during its run in Tamil Nadu. The film features Soubin Shahir, Balu Varghese, and Lal Jr in the lead. It is directed by Chidambaram, best known for his work on ‘Jan. E. Man’.
Coming back to Aadujeevitham, it is based on a novel of the same name and centres on a Malayali immigrant labourer forced into slavery on a secluded farm in Saudi Arabia. The biggie stars Amala Paul as the leading lady and is directed by Blessy.
The film is produced by Blessy, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Steven Adams. AR Rahman is the film’s music composer.
