Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Abhimanyu Singh, and Ali Fazal are set to star in the upcoming period film “Lahore 1947,” directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, as confirmed by Aamir Khan. The statement follows the revelation that Sunny Deol’s son, Karan Deol, successfully auditioned for a significant role in the film, and will portray the character of Javed.
Expressing his delight, Aamir Khan in a statement shared, “I am so happy that Karan Deol has tested so well for the extremely critical role of Javed. His natural innocence, sincerity, and honesty bring a lot to the table. Karan has really applied himself, worked hard, done workshops with ADISHAKTI, rehearsals with Raj, and is giving it his all. Javed is a great part, a very challenging part, and I am sure that with Raj Santoshi to direct him, Karan will nail it.”
Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta will play pivotal roles in the film, produced by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The ensemble cast also includes Shabana Azmi, Abhimanyu Singh, and Ali Fazal, with Abhimanyu portraying the antagonist opposite Sunny.
This film marks the first collaboration of Sunny Deol, Rajkumar Santoshi, and Aamir Khan. Santoshi has brought on Santosh Sivan as the cinematographer for “Lahore 1947” and is also teaming up with AR Rahman and Javed Akhtar for the project.
Reflecting on the film, Santoshi shared, “Lahore 1947 is a very special film. Also, it’s a reunion with the most talented people. I worked with Aamir in Andaz Apna Apna, and this time, he is collaborating as a producer. With Sunny Deol, we made most loved films like Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak.”
