Aamir Khan’s Son Junaid Khan Was Left Baffled With Actor’s SHOCKING Decision: ‘Probably One Of The Toughest…’

After a terrific debut in Netflix’s ‘Maharaj,’ Junaid Khan, who is the elder son of Aamir Khan, has also ventured into film production. Junaid shared that during Aamir’s retirement phase, his father asked him to take over Aamir Khan Productions. Junaid is now producing “Pritam Pyaare” for the production company.

In an interview with a leading publication, Junaid discussed his early move into production despite being new to acting. He mentioned his experience on film sets, including working behind the scenes on “PK” and assisting in ad shoots.

“Dad Was Going Through This Whole ‘I-Am-Retiring Phase”

He said, “Yes, I have. I have been on film sets and behind the camera on the set of PK. I have assisted in ad shoots as well. After we completed the shoot for Maharaj, there was a film we were working on at AKP (Aamir Khan Productions).”

He continued, “At that point, Kiran (Rao) was making Laapataa Ladies and dad was going through this whole ‘I-am-retiring phase’, and he even spoke about that (smiles). He told me, ‘I am retiring, why don’t you take over.’ So, that’s the phase when I stepped in. I think I have a decent understanding of production. It’s probably one of the toughest jobs in filmmaking.”

Junaid maintains a close bond with his parents, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta. When asked if they were nervous about his debut, he replied that they were not anxious but rather happy for him.

Their extensive industry experience meant they were familiar with the challenges and excitement, which in turn helped Junaid manage his own experience. Both parents enjoyed his work, with Aamir being an easygoing viewer and Reena being more critical.

Junaid noted that Aamir did not visit the set of his debut film, except on the first day with his grandparents, and watched the film only after it was completed.

Junaid added that his father’s career does not influence his own film choices, acknowledging that Aamir has had both great successes and less successful projects. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and progression in filmmaking, which he views as an art rather than a science.
