Ajay Devgn’s ‘shaitaan’ Enters Rs 100 Crore Club at Indian Box Office on Second Sunday

Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan’s ‘Shaitaan’, which hit screens on March 8, has emerged as a massive commercial success. The film collected Rs 10.17 crore on Sunday, March 18, to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club in India.

The film collected nearly Rs 81 crore in the first week, receiving rave reviews from fans. It stayed strong in the second week and netted Rs 5.12 crore on Friday. 

The film benefitted from the healthy worth of mouth and the mixed response to ‘Yodha’, which released in theatres on March 15. Devgn’s movie further witnesses a spike on its second weekend. Here is the complete breakdown for the collections of ‘Shaitaan’. 

Week 1 – Rs 81.60 crore

2nd Fri – Rs 5.12 crore

2nd Sat – Rs 9.12 crore

2nd Sun– Rs 10.17 crore

Total 2nd weekend – Rs 24.41 crore

The film’s total collection stands at Rs 106.01 crore. 

‘Shaitaan’, directed by Vikas Bahl, is a horror-thriller that revolves around the clash between ‘good’ and ‘evil’. The film features Jyothika as the leading lady and marks her return to Hindi cinema after nearly 26 years.

She made her Bollywood debut with ‘Doli Saja Ke Rakhna’ (1998) but decided to concentrate on South cinema after it flopped. ‘Shaitaan’ also features Janki Bodiwala and Anngad Raaj in key roles.  It is a remake of Gujarati film ‘Vash’, starring Hitu Kanodia. 

Coming back to Devgn, he is going through a busy phase on the work front. Bollywood’s Mass Maharaja will soon be seen in ‘Maidaan’, slated to release in theatres this Eid. The sports-drama features him as Syed Abdul Rahim, a legendary football manager and coach. It stars Priyamani as the leading lady and marks her first collaboration with Devgn. The ‘Raju Chacha’ actor will also be seen in ‘Raid 2’, which features Vaani Kapoor as the leading lady. .
