Dulquer Salmaan, who turns 41 today (July 28), is one of the biggest and most popular names in the Malayalam film industry. The star enjoys a strong fan following due to his striking screen presence and sincere performances. He also shares a strong rapport with his colleagues. Speaking exclusively to News X, director Bejoy Nambiar opened up about directing him in ‘Solo’ and called him a “talented actor”.
‘Solo’ was one of the most ambitious films of Dulquer Salmaan’s career. It hit screens amid fanfare in 2017 and created a buzz among fans with its unique presentation. It, however, did not live up to expectations at the box office. Despite this, director Bejoy Nambiar is proud of the film. He is also happy about the fact that he got the opportunity to collaborate with Dulquer on the anthology drama. In an exclusive interview with News X, the filmmaker lauded the Mollywood heartthrob’s professionalism
“He is an extremely talented actor and a great guy. I had an absolute ball working with him. He is one of the best actors I have ever worked with. He was a huge asset to the production and the film. I love the way he championed it. He completely owned the film and that’s what he does with every film. He is not an actor for hire but one of the team,” said Bejoy.
‘Solo’, shot simultaneously in Tamil and Malayalam, featured four independent stories and starred Dulquer in a quadruple role. Upon release, it received mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office. The cast included Neha Sharma, Dino Morea, and Sai Dhanshika.
Dulquer, meanwhile, is going through a busy phase on the work front. He was last seen in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, which hit screens last month and emerged as a massive hit at the box office. He is currently awaiting the release of ‘Lucky Bhaskar’, which is slated to hit screens this September. He also has ‘Aakasam Lo Oka Tara’ in his kitty.
