Stand-up comedian and winner of Bigg Boss 17, Munawar Faruqui, was among 14 individuals detained by Mumbai police during a late Tuesday night raid on a hookah parlour in the Fort area of south Mumbai, officials revealed on Wednesday.
The Mumbai Police registered a case against Faruqui and the other 13 individuals, with Faruqui being released after the case was filed.
“Although it was a bailable offence, the police issued a notice and subsequently released Faruqui. The matter is currently under investigation,” stated the police.
“Our team conducted a raid on a hookah bar in Mumbai based on information suggesting the use of tobacco under the guise of herbal substances. Following the examination of the premises, a case was registered, and 14 individuals were taken into custody. Faruqui was among those detained,” an official confirmed.
Munawar Faruqui gained significant popularity during his stint on the 17th season of the reality show “Bigg Boss” aired on Colors TV. His presence in the Bigg Boss house garnered widespread attention throughout the season.
