‘Crew’, the heist drama led by Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon, has maintained a strong hold at the box office in its first week of release. The film, directed by Rajesh Krishnan, continued its steady performance on its seventh day, earning an estimated Rs 3 crore. This brings the total net domestic collection of ‘Crew’ to Rs 43.75 crore after its first week. Globally, the film has crossed the Rs 83 crore mark in earnings.
On Thursday, April 4th, ‘Crew’ recorded an overall 11.40% Hindi occupancy at the box office. Notably, the night shows saw the maximum footfall with 14.81% occupancy. The film maintained its dominance in urban centers like Delhi-NCR, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad.
The box office journey of ‘Crew’ commenced on a strong note with an impressive Rs 9.25 crore on its opening day, March 29. This momentum continued with earnings of Rs 9.75 crore and Rs 10.5 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively. As the second weekend approaches, ‘Crew’ is expected to pick up pace once again, especially with no major releases in sight. However, it will soon face competition from upcoming films like Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’, both set to release on April 10. The makers anticipate ‘Crew’ to cross the Rs 100 crore mark globally before these releases. Currently, the film has achieved a gross collection of Rs 82.58 crore worldwide, as shared by the makers on social media, “Our Crew continues their box office ascent! (sic).”
Despite ‘Crew’s’ successful run, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Malayalam drama ‘Aadujeevitham’ has managed to outperform it at the box office. Released a day ahead of ‘Crew’, ‘Aadujeevitham’ earned Rs 3.25 crore on Thursday, bringing its total net domestic earnings to Rs 47.10 crore.
