‘Deadpool And Wolverine’, which hit screens on July 26, has opened to a sensational response at the Indian box office and received rave reviews. The film had created a great deal of the buzz among movie buffs with its quirky promotional material, which worked in its favour.
‘Deadpool And Wolverine’ Takes A Flying Start In India
‘Deadpool and Wolverine’, one of the biggest releases of the year, has created history at the domestic box office. It grossed a phenomenal Rs 27 crore in India to secure the highest opening for a Hollywood film in India this year.
The Marvel movie did well in urban markets, emerging as the top choice of the younger audience. It hit screens alongside Dhanush’s ‘Raayan’. However, the Tamil film posed no threat to it. Raayan essentially caters to audiences in B and C centres, which aren’t conventional strongholds for Hollywood films.

‘Deadpool And Wolverine’ also didn’t face any competition from ‘Indian 2’ and ‘Sarfira’ as both films have failed to find takers at the box office. Prabhas’ ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is still doing well at the box office but it didn’t impact the Hollywood biggie as it has been in theatres for over a month.
‘Deadpool And Wolverine’ is expected to witness major growth over the weekend given the popularity of the titular characters and the positive word of mouth. It is then expected to enjoy a free run on the weekdays in most centres, barring Tamil Nadu.
About ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’
Helmed by Shawn Levy, ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’ centres on the events that unfold when Deadpool teams up with The Wolverine to take on a common foe. Ryan Reynolds plays the unhinged loudmouth. Hugh Jackman, on the other hand, essays the role of The Wolverine. The Wolverine seen here, however, is not the same as the one who died a tragic but heroic death in ‘Logan’ (2017). The cast includes Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, and Matthew Macfadyen.
‘Deadpool And Wolverine’ hit screens on July 26 and is currently playing in theatres across the globe.
