The Oscars 2024 was a memorable and star-studded event that saw the biggest names from the film industry lock horns for top honours. ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Poor Things’ emerged as the big winners, bagging awards in multiple categories.
The event will also be remembered for the unusual moment when John Cena appeared on stage wearing practically nothing to present an award. However, Leonardo DiCaprio’s apparent absence from the Oscars 2024 proved to be the biggest talking point of the night.
The star failed to secure an Oscar nomination in the ‘Best Actor’ category for his work in ‘Killers of The Flower Moon’. However, the movie had bagged nominations in 10 categories. As such, fans expected Leo to turn up at the ceremony to cheer for the team.
However, the ‘Titanic’ star was not spotted at the red carpet event. Neither was he seen during the telecast. This prompted viewers to speculate if he had chosen to give the Oscars 2024 a miss.
Here are some of the reactions

Leonardo has been nominated for the Oscars seven times in his career. In 2016, he won his his first Oscar for his work in ‘The Revenant’.
This year, he bagged nominations for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ at Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globes, and Screen Actors Guild. However, this didn’t help him get an Oscar nomination.
The nominees in the ‘Best Actor’ category were Bradley Cooper for ‘Maestro’, Colman Domingo for ‘Rustin’, Paul Giamatti for ‘The Holdovers’, Cillian Murphy for ‘Oppenheimer,’ and Jeffrey Wright for ‘American Fiction’. Murphy eventually won the award for his work in Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus.
Coming back to Leonardo, he is currently working on the ‘BC Project’. The film is being directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and features Regina Hall as the leading lady. It is being produced by Paul Thomas Anderson, Sara Murphy, and Adam Somner.
