A leaked “script” detailing the outcome of the much-anticipated Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight has surfaced online as the match gets underway. The fake script, which resembles one that circulated before Paul’s bout with Tommy Fury last year, provides a play-by-play breakdown, with Paul reportedly landing a knockout blow in Round 5. While the authenticity of the script is highly questionable, it has stirred excitement ahead of Netflix’s live coverage of the fight at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 15.
The showdown between the legendary boxer Mike Tyson and YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul kicked off at AT&T Stadium in Texas, with over 70,000 spectators in attendance, generating $17.8 million in ticket sales. Prior to the match, a fake script made its way online, allegedly revealing how the 58-year-old Tyson would face off against the younger Paul.
The script details the fight’s progression, with Tyson showing glimpses of his former self in Round 1, landing a few jabs, but Paul’s superior mobility becoming evident. In Round 2, Tyson delivers a powerful left hook to Paul’s body, but Paul counters with jabs, displaying better stamina and movement. By Round 3, Tyson responds with a combination, but Paul slips most of it, using his jab to find his range.
The script’s final reveal comes in Round 5, where Paul delivers a decisive three-punch combination, forcing Tyson back against the ropes. A powerful right hand knocks Tyson down, and despite his best efforts, Tyson fails to beat the ten-count, handing Paul the victory.
Originally scheduled for the summer, the fight was postponed due to Tyson’s health concerns. With the fight now upon us, there are worries that Tyson, at 58, may struggle to keep up with the younger Paul. This fight is the headliner of a card featuring seven bouts, adding to the anticipation surrounding the event.
Tyson will headline his first fight in four years and his first professional bout in nearly two decades. However, concerns have been raised by Dr. Damon Zavala, Vice President of the Association of Ringside Physicians, about Tyson’s health ahead of the match. Dr. Zavala pointed out that Tyson’s age could impact his defense mechanisms, but he added, “He’s not at any more risk than any other fighter when it comes to his brain.” He cautioned that Tyson’s punch resistance and neck strength were crucial factors, but if he had sustained injuries during sparring, it could increase the risk of brain damage. “If he was sparring hard and was rocked or even knocked out, he will go into the fight at a much higher risk of brain damage or brain bleeds,” he warned.
