Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga clinched the prestigious Best Director award for his film ‘Animal’ at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024. The announcement was made by production house T-Series via a post on social media platform X, accompanied by a video capturing Vanga receiving the esteemed accolade.
The star-studded event witnessed the presence of renowned Bollywood personalities including Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Aditya Roy Kapur, Vikrant Massey, Nayanthara, Shahid Kapoor, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and others.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, ‘Animal’ emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of 2023, although it faced criticism for its portrayal of misogyny. The film features a stellar cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles. ‘Animal’ delves into the complexities of a strained father-son relationship, with Ranbir Kapoor essaying the role of Rannvijay Singh, seeking vengeance following an assassination attempt on his father. The movie garnered over Rs 800 crore at the box office, solidifying its commercial success.
