Emma Stone Shocked Over Winning Best Actress Oscar After Upsetting Lily Gladstone

“Poor Things” secured an impressive 11 Oscar nominations this year, spanning categories such as Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Mark Ruffalo), Best Director (Yorgos Lanthimos), Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, and Production Design. Emma Stone bagged the Best Actress Oscar upsetting everyone’s favourite Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon.

Emma Stone expressed her surprise and delight at winning Best Actress at the Oscars for the Irish-produced film “Poor Things.” The actress in her winning speech stated, “Wow. I feel like I blacked out. I was genuinely shocked and still feel like I’m spinning a little bit. It’s a massive honour, and I’m very surprised.”

“Poor Things” won four Oscars. Irish co-producers Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe received th Best Picture nomination, and Irishman Robbie Ryan was nominated for Cinematography.

During her acceptance speech, Stone humorously revealed that her dress broke while dancing to a song from the Barbie movie. “Yes, they sewed me back in. When I came back, they sewed me back in, which was wonderful. I think I busted it during ‘I’m Just Ken.’ I was so amazed by Ryan [Gosling], and that number just blew my mind. I was right there, going for it, and, you know, things happen.”

Stone thoroughly enjoyed portraying Bella Baxter, a character saved from death by an experimental doctor who places the brain of her unborn baby into her lifeless head, leading to her development over the years.

“She is a character that is so important to me. The chance to play a person starting from scratch, gaining language and skills at a rapid pace every day, realizing that she was full of joy, curiosity, and true love for both the good and challenging aspects of life – that was an amazing lesson,” said Emma Stone.

She added, “I really miss playing her since we wrapped filming, which was like two and a half years ago. I miss Bella, and I’m grateful that we got to celebrate the film tonight and over these past few months. Yeah, I just love her.”
