In a tragic incident, Mala Ankola, mother of former cricketer and television actor Salil Ankola, was found dead at her residence on Prabhat Road in Pune.
According to initial reports, Mala Ankola sustained a fatal neck injury, which is believed to be self-inflicted. Reportedly, a kitchen knife was used in the incident, and the room’s door was found locked from the inside.
Later, her body was discovered by a housemaid, who immediately alerted the police and notified her relatives.
While talking about ongoing investigation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sandeep Gill said ‘We found her body in a suspicious way. We are investigating whether it is a natural death or a murder. After the post-mortem, the picture will be clearer. Till then, we can’t make any assurances.”
He further added that the police are considering the possibility of suicide, given the circumstances of the locked room and the nature of the injury.
Meanwhile, Salil Ankola renowned for his cricket career and work in television, confirmed the tragic news via an emotional Instagram post.
In the post, he shared a heartfelt image of his mother, accompanied by a simple yet poignant caption: “Goodbye Mom,” offering a touching farewell to his late mother.
For unversed, Salil Ankola, who transitioned from a successful cricket career to television, gained popularity for his acting roles.
He is best known for his portrayal of Mahen Kapoor in Karam Apnaa Apnaa. In addition to his acting career, Salil has appeared in series like Kehta Hai Dil, CID, and Karmaphal Daata Shani, where he played the role of Surya Dev. He was also a participant in reality shows such as Bigg Boss (season 1), Fear Factor India, and Power Couple.
