From Suriya To Nikhila Vimal, Actors Unite To Contribute For Wayanad Landslide Relief Fund

The Wayanad landslide has left the nation in mourning as the death toll rises above 250, with over 200 people still missing. The natural disaster has prompted an outpouring of grief and support from across the country, including notable contributions from prominent cinema stars.

Actors Suriya, Jyotika, and Karthi have jointly donated Rs 50 lakh to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Wayanad Landslide Distress Relief Fund. Their significant contribution aims to support the rescue and relief efforts in the wake of the tragedy.

Joining them, actress Rashmika Mandanna has donated Rs 10 lakh to the same fund. Mandanna, who recently visited Kerala for a mall inauguration in Kollam, received overwhelming support from over 2000 fans during her appearance.

Additionally, actress Nikhila Vimal has been actively participating in on-ground relief operations. She has been working alongside volunteers, preparing and packing relief materials late into the night. Her dedication has been widely praised on social media, showcasing her commitment to aiding those in need.

Chiyaan Vikram has also extended his support, contributing Rs 20 lakh to the relief efforts. A statement from the actor’s manager expressed Vikram’s sorrow, saying, “Pained by the sad news of the devastation caused by the recent landslide in Kerala’s Wayanad district that left over 250 people dead, Actor @chiyaan today donated a sum of Rs 20 lakhs to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.”

Mammootty’s charitable trust has mobilized to provide essential aid to the survivors. The trust has dispatched a convoy to Wayanad, delivering food items, medicines, clothes, and other necessary supplies.

As the community rallies together, more cinema stars are expected to join the donation campaign. The people of Wayanad are in urgent need of support after four villages in the district were devastated by the landslide.

The four most affected areas by the landslides in Wayanad district are Churalpara, Velarimala, Mundakayil, and Pothukalu. The landslides occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 30. According to reports, over 8,000 people have been safely evacuated and are currently housed in approximately 82 relief camps.

The disaster underscores the importance of solidarity and swift action in the face of natural calamities, with cinema stars and charitable organizations playing a crucial role in the ongoing relief efforts.
