Bollywood producer Vashu Bhagnani has filed a police complaint against Netflix India, accusing the streaming giant of defrauding him of ₹47.37 crore over film rights. The dispute revolves around three Hindi films produced by Bhagnani— Hero No. 1, Mission Raniganj, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Despite the allegations, Netflix has firmly denied the charges.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police has launched an investigation following Bhagnani’s complaint. The producer, who owns Pooja Entertainment, claims that Netflix failed to fulfill its payment obligations for the aforementioned films, leaving him owed ₹47.37 crore.
Bhagnani’s complaint has been lodged against Los Gatos Production Services India, a subsidiary responsible for Netflix’s content investments in the country, as well as Zoo Digital India and several senior executives from both firms.
In response to these allegations, Netflix issued a statement rejecting Bhagnani’s claims. According to the streaming platform, the financial dispute lies with Pooja Entertainment, which allegedly owes them money.

“These claims are entirely baseless. In fact, Pooja Entertainment owes Netflix a substantial amount. We have always maintained a strong relationship with the Indian creative community and are cooperating with authorities to resolve this matter,” a Netflix spokesperson said.
As the investigation unfolds, both parties stand firm in their respective claims, with the police expected to delve further into the financial dealings between the companies.
