Is Wonder Woman 3 Not Happening? Lynda Carter Has Dropped A Clever Hint About The Movie’s Future

Lynda Carter, who portrayed Wonder Woman in the 1970s TV series, did not mince words when discussing the possibility of a Wonder Woman 3 film being made. Though nothing is certain, Carter believes that the only way the project would move forward is if fans demand it and make their voices heard. In a recent interview, Carter stated “I don’t think they want to do it unless there’s enough pressure from fans. I just don’t think they have the desire to do it. And I don’t understand that, because Wonder Woman is unique compared to other superheroes.”

She added, “Her entire ethos is about achieving peace through nonviolent means. She doesn’t seek out aggression or conflict. It’s a different kind of storyline that focuses on harnessing inner strength and compassion. I don’t know why they shelved it, because it’s a great franchise.”

Carter expressed disappointment that DC Studios cancelled plans for a third Wonder Woman film in 2022. Director Patty Jenkins was developing something “really interesting, wonderful and about an important issue,” Carter said. “Not just your run-of-the-mill superhero movie. But they don’t want anyone else directing it.”

Jenkins herself recently confirmed that Wonder Woman 3 is “dead for now, likely forever.” Carter had a cameo as the warrior Asteria in 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984 and was slated to appear in the third installment.

“I have to give Patty and Gal a lot of credit because interest in my original show peaked when they came on the scene,” Carter commented adding, “Their interpretation of the character was intentional – and my portrayal was intentional too. To show her as good, kind, strong and principled. Even when she got angry, it was directed at the right targets.”

In Carter’s view, “Wonder Woman represents our true inner selves. We are strong and beautiful at every age. We are powerful, loving and kind. That’s the essence of womanhood.” Carter never felt jealous about Gal Gadot assuming the role. “We all supported each other and are very good friends,” said Carter, who is in a group chat with Jenkins and Gadot. “We defused any potential tension. ‘No, we love each other.’ ‘Oh, darn.’ Sharing that legacy with someone is wonderful.”
